Impression Guidelines
5th Minnesota, Company B Impression Guidelines
All military participants will portray the 5th Minnesota Company B Infantry and must follow the uniform guidelines listed below.
All Uniforms, Brass and equipment must be clean.
Officers and NCO's must wear proper insignia.
Uniform:
Frock Coat (preferred coat)
Fatigue Blouse (4-button sack coat).
Trousers: Sky-blue kersey trousers
Regulation issue shirt or appropriate civilian wool/cotton shirt.
Foot Wear: Jefferson Bootee's (“brogans”).
White Dress Gloves
Headgear:
U.S. Issue 1858 Enlisted forage cap
Hat Brass - Infantry Bugle
Civilian Hat may be worn when not on duty
Accoutrements:
U.S. Issue leather belt with US buckle
U.S. Issue cap pouch, cartridge box strap & breastplate
Equipage:
U.S. Issue Double-Bag Knapsack or Blanket Roll
U.S. Issue Canteen
U.S. Issue Haversack
Weapons:
.69 Caliber Musket - PREFER
1861 Springfield
1853 Enfield
3 Band Rifle Muskets
Rounds:
40 rounds per man
Blankets:
U.S. Issue blanket
Ground Cloths:
U.S. Issue gum blanket.
Tents:
Wedge/Common Tents (A-Frames) - Must be two or more enlisted men to a tent.
Sibley Tents – Must be 4+ to a tent.
Wall tents for Officers and post civilians.
No Shelter Halves
*If you do not have a tent. You will be assigned to one.
Other Equipment:
Bedsack, Rope Bed or period cot is encouraged.
Trunks, chairs and tables will be accepted.
Lanterns and Candles are encouraged
NO Modern eyewear
NO Modern jewelry
Civilian Impressions
Civilian Impressions for West Newton Township
All civilian impressions must be approve by the event staff prior to the event. Day trippers are allowed.
Fort Ridgely was the post office for the township. Visiting the fort to drop off mail and visiting the store is encourage.
Civilians who wish to stay onsite may be hired to help out with duties around the fort.
